New Plain English Allergen Labelling (PEAL) regulations deadline looming.

The New Plain English Allergen Regulations Australia were introduced in 2018 and are the first to reduce food labelling confusion for consumers. The regulations require specific names for allergies rather than generalised terms such as “flavours” or “spices”, helping customers identify ingredients that may cause allergic reactions.

In late February 2021, the FSANZ Code was amended to introduce new requirements for the labelling of allergens in food sold in Australia. FSANZ approved Proposal P1044 Plain English Allergen Labelling (PEAL).

If your business is printing ingredients on labels for food, these new requirements will require you to take action.  Businesses have one year (until 25 February 2024) to adjust their product information and labels to meet the new requirements. These requirements will change how allergen information is declared on all food labels.

We are happy to announce that if you currently use an Ezi Scale or Ezi Labeller from GaP Solutions as an integral part of your business, you will not need to worry about your equipment meeting the new regulations, as the software on your connected Ezi Scale units will automatically be upgraded.

The new features within our EM Cloud™ software will ensure the relevant allergen-prone ingredients are placed in bold type and correct format within the label by utilising our intelligent indexing AI. Our software will automatically apply the required format once you have captured the ingredient list for the relevant product, saving you time and reducing errors.

If you are already a GaP Solutions customer, our friendly support team is here to help guide you through the process of upgrading your software and ensuring that your Ezi Scale is compliant with the new allergen declaration requirements. We provide free phone and email support during business hours as well as online help videos available 24/7.

Whether you are running an Ezi Scale or Ezi Labeller in your seafood store, butchery or deli, single store or multi-store, your scale will automatically be configured to meet these requirements. Your software upgrade will be at no extra cost to your business as we deliver once again on our promise of innovative, flexible solutions for our customers. Our Ezi Scale and Ezi Labeller is compatible with several other back office system software, allowing for seemless integration with your current system.

Supporting our clients is always our top priority. Our support team is available 24/7 to provide technical support to ensure the smooth operation of your business. With our tailored solutions and commitment to customer-centric service, you can rest assured that your business will be on the right track to success.

Don’t risk missing the February 2024 deadline. If you are unsure if your current label printing scale or bakery printer make and model are capable of meeting these new regulations, please email sales@gapsolutions.com.au or contact us by phone at 1300 123 456. We look forward to hearing from you!
